Egypt 2010On January 17th we took a flight to Egypt. Just we arrived we extended our tourist visa for three months.
Cairo and the Pyramids of Giza, were the introduce letter of Egypt, one of our favorite destinations.
From Cairo we decided to visit the deserts of the West, from Bahariya Oasis to Dakhla, through breathtaking deserts (black, white, rock ...) and silent cities of adobe.
Our next point was Luxor, where we set up our own base camp to enjoy everything this city offers: The Valley of the Kings, Luxor Temple, Karnak Temple, the Nile, a lively but peaceful city ...
From there we visited the Red Sea coast, trying to avoid the most tourist places. We were at Al-Qusir, Suez and Dahab.
We went to Luxor and from there to the south of Egypt, or what is called the Upper Nile: The beautiful city of Aswan and its Corniche, Elephantine Island, the Temples of Abu Simbel and Philae.
We rented a Felucca in Aswan, a small sailing boat, and we were sailing down the Nile to Edfu for two days. Along the way we visited a few villages on the banks of the river and the temples of Kom Ombo.
Our last point of our trip in Egypt, was the modern Mediterranean city of Alexandria. A charming city where you can experience the atmosphere of the cafes and spend hours in the great Library of Alexandria.
Egypt left a good impression: History, culture, good food and hospitality of its people. Now we’re able to say that has to be a sin to visit Egypt in 8 days, as most travel agencies do...
